What is Vancouver Hachijo Taiko Kai ?

Vancouver Hachijo Taiko Kai is a group established by Noriko Kobayashi (NoriNori) in 2024 for the taiko drummers enjoying Hachijo Taiko (the traditional drumming style from Hachijo Island, Japan) around Vancouver, Canada.

 Our activities include:

❶ Learning basic movements of Hachijo Taiko through the class of Hachijo Style I (for beginners and reviewers) at Moberly Arts and Culture Centre (roughly monthly)

 ❷ Developing own solo performance through the class of Hachijo Style II (for experienced taiko players) (roughly monthly)

❸ Joining the 24-hour Challenge Hachijo Taiko held in Hachijo Island, Japan (every year)

② sending our performance video to be presented in the event or

② joining the online live performance from Vancouver)
